The FCA has introduced Consumer Duty which builds on their previous Treating Customers Fairly initiative, the Consumer Duty promotes four outcomes for customers as follows:-

(b) customers receive fair value
(c) communications enable consumers to make informed decisions about financial products and services,
(d) that customers receive adequate levels of support throughout their relationship with a firm. 

In addition Consumer duty brought in the cross-cutting rules which require us to:-

  • Avoid foreseeable harm to retail customers.
  • Enable and support retail customers to pursue their financial objectives.
